About Screen Free Parent
We're a field guide for intentional parents raising kids mostly off-screen: more boredom, more time outside, a bit more mud, and lots of love. That takes a bit of planning these days, and we want to make it easier.
Our editorial standards
Every page, plan and pick here is chosen with intention. Here's what that means in practice:
- Cite primary sources with links, and label how strong each finding is.
- Publish what research doesn't say.
- Never shame other families. Every family is doing its best.
- Real-world feedback drives every pick: long-term owners, parent communities, educators (including Montessori and Waldorf), durability and hand-me-down reports, and independent testing. Star ratings are one signal we read critically, after checking they look trustworthy. Where we have it, each pick carries a short "What real parents say" line, paraphrased and linked to its sources, never an invented quote. How we weigh it.
- Products: every one is real, linked to the maker's own page, and has the maker's age grading and warnings shown verbatim with the date we checked. Our suggested ages are never younger than the maker's.
- Certifications: listed only when the maker names them.
- Deals: shown only when the maker lists a higher regular price. Never invented.
- Honest drawbacks for everything.
- No one can pay for a pick. Not a spot, not a better write-up, not a badge. See our disclosure.
- Product alerts quote regulators and researchers with dates, calmly.
How the helper works
An AI model reads your request only to understand it. All plans and picks come from our own catalog. Try it.
