The best-supported rule on this whole site: no devices in bedrooms. Replace them with something better, like a read-aloud, a story audio card, or shadow puppets.
Build a plan for my kids' agesBath, dim lights, quiet play.
Read-aloud, then an audio story.

Honest drawback: Cards add up (make-your-own cards help). The parent app needs Wi-Fi for setup, and it's still media, so we use it with limits at bedtime.

Honest drawback: Figures are pricey, and they're collectibles. Set a limit early.

Honest drawback: Splurge for a small lamp. Keep the cord out of a crib or bed's reach.
